First training session

So, Witney’s first preseason session was a relative success. Ran by me, the guys did some light drills, followed by a few pick-up games.
A solid 22 turned up, from all backgrounds, with a wide range of levels and futures.
The next couple of sessions will be similar, in that we will get everyone back in to the swing of things gently. But by September, the squad will be trimmed and we will be looking at putting out upto 15 registered members.
Registration forms are available from me, at training sessions, so don’t forget to ask if you want to sign up!
Buy remember, filling out a registration form will not guarantee a place in the squad, as the 12-15 members will be put through their paces to be par of the squad. That is the big word, squad. We have had a few outstanding individuals over the years but mainly have failed to play as a team, and the team is going to be the main concentration in this coming season.
So, a nice session, and thankyou to all that came. We look forward to seeing some old, and some new faces next week!

Pre season training

Pre season training will start on August 3rd.
This will give current players the oppurtunity to get back into the groove, and potential new players to show us what they can do.
Anyone wishing to join or come for tryouts is more than welcome!

Training Sessions April May

Hello and thanks to everyone that turn up for training on Tuesday – it was a good one 
, it is important that we keep the numbers up even in the hot weather as this will enable us to hire the hall through the summer and most importantly we will improve our play !
The last training at Wood Green School is on 4th of May after that there is a break for few weeks due to the school exams, any suggestions for alternative venu more than welcome. After that we can come back to Wood Green in July.
Any ideas or comments fire away below.

With the season coming to an end this month, Witney are looking ahead to the off season with big plans in mind!
With the potential return of Naeem and Jazz Hussain, and newcomers with great talent, Witney could be looking at a stronger season next year. So we ask all players interested in joining us, to come along to training and try out.
Next home game is on the 23rd against Brookes Eagles with the Sonics visiting the week after.

Another game postponed due to the bad weather, the game against Brookes Eagles will be now played on Tuesday the 23.03.2010. Next training Tuesday 19th January. Lets hope we do not get snowed in again

Important dates for you diary

Please note that the Woodgreen Sports Hall is not available to the club on the following dates in December.
8 Dec — School Prom
22 & 29 Dec — Christmas closure of school
Basketball will re-commence at Woodgreen on Tuesday 5 January 2010 when we welcome Oxford Stealers in the league, tip-off 8.15pm. We have another home fixture the following week Tuesday 10 January 2010 when we play Eagles.
Training recommences on Tuesday 19 January at 8.00pm
